Microsoft Lens is gone. Here is an alternative: your documents never come to us.

Microsoft retired Lens in 2026: updates stopped in January, the app left the stores in February and scanning was switched off on March 9. Microsoft points users to OneDrive, which saves scans to the cloud. Vitral works the other way: no account, and your documents never come to us.

Questions

Can I still use Microsoft Lens?

No. Microsoft switched off scanning in Lens on March 9, 2026, and the app is no longer in the stores.

Is Vitral free?

Yes. Scanning, PDF creation, the PDF tools and signing are free. Scanning is unlimited and never watermarked. Extracting text (OCR) is free for 7 pages a day; Pro removes the limit. Pro (monthly, yearly, or a one-time lifetime purchase where available) adds the Locked Vault, searchable PDF, Word export and batch import, and removes ads.

Does Vitral upload my documents?

Never to us: there is no account and no cloud processing. Your documents are stored on your phone; if Android's backup is on, regular documents may be included in your own Google backup (never the Locked Vault).

Can I open my old Lens PDFs in Vitral?

Yes. Open a PDF with “Open with → Vitral” or share it to Vitral, and it is added to your library.
